What does an end-of-life doula do?
An end-of-life doula offers non-medical emotional, spiritual, and practical support to a person who is dying and the people who love them. UpLegacy helps create space for meaningful conversations, comfort, planning, companioning, vigils, and the days that follow a death.
When can UpLegacy support begin?
Whenever you want it. Before the diagnosis gets urgent, during the decline, in the final days, or after a death. Earlier is easier, because the hard choices get made while everyone can still talk.
How does this work alongside hospice?
It does not replace hospice and it is not medical care. Your doctors and nurses handle treatment. UpLegacy handles presence, communication, planning, and the family. It works in parallel, and stays in its lane.
What does respite care actually look like?
UpLegacy is there so you can leave. Sleep, eat, run an errand, sit in your car. You come back to someone who has been present and attentive, not to a crisis.
Can UpLegacy help plan and conduct a vigil?
Yes. UpLegacy talks through wishes for the final weeks and days, builds a plan, arranges whatever rituals matter to your family, and is there for it. A vigil can be simple. It just has to be yours.
Do you help after someone dies?
Yes. Mourning support, the practical next steps, and the house. Papers, belongings, decisions. At your pace, for as long as it takes.
